Maui Marathon & Race Weekend

The Maui Marathon is known as one of the most beautiful marathon races in the world. This 26.2 mile race stretches from Kahului to the Kaanapali Whalers Village. The last 20 miles of the race twists and turns throughout the Maui shoreline and provides for many jaw dropping views. The marathon is open to all those who wish to participate. If a marathon isn't for you and you're looking for something a little gentler, you can also participate in the half marathon, Maui Tacos 5k, or the Front Street Mile on the 19th of September. Nissan XTERRA World Championship

The Nissan XTERRA World Championship is considered to be one of the most challenging triathlons. Taking place in Makena, competitors are pushed to their limits with a difficult open ocean swim. Competitors then have to bike and run the rest of the rest. The course is difficult in that much of the terrain consists of rough lava rock. The championship attracts top athletes from all over the world but is open for all those who wish to participate.

Halloween in Lahaina

Also known as the Mardi Gras of the Pacific, Halloween on Front Street is an event you have to see for yourself. Front Street is shut down to traffic and events start at 4:30 pm with a children's costume parade followed by costume contests, haunted houses, games, live entertainment, and trick or treating. After the kids head to bed the adults come out to play. This is a great time to watch the streets fill with wild and amazing costumes. Live entertainment and dancing take place in front of the Banyan Tree and restaurants are open late providing their own entertainment, drinks, and food.

Aloha Festivals

The Aloha Festival is an event that is held annually throughout all the Hawaiian Islands. This week long festival is dedicated to the rich Hawaiian culture. One of the highlights of the event is the reenactment of the old Hawaiian Royal Court. Traditional hula dancing and music will be performed daily. The festival also features many ancient Hawaiian artifacts. This is a great way to learn the history of the Hawaiian people and the islands.

The Ritz-Carlton Tree Lighting Ceremony

If there is just one tree lighting ceremony you're going to attend this December, the Ritz-Carlton is the one to see. They're famous island wide for this annual grand event. The music and entertainment is some of the best. Every year Hawaii's very own award winning Keali'i Reichel comes to perform as well as some amazing choirs from all over the island. The Ritz provides cookies, hot chocolate, tea, and other beverages free of charge.

Santa makes his grand appearance every year in the most unique fashion. He's been known to parachute in, appear on the roof, and even come in on a surfboard. When night falls the tree lighting ceremony comes to its peak when the Christmas tree and Ritz Carlton grounds are illuminated in thousands of white lights. It's a sight that's truly unforgettable.

This is definitely an event you can't miss if you're on island. Great for children and adults!

Holiday Lighting of the Banyan Tree

Come join Santa for the annual tree lighting ceremony of the largest Banyan Tree in the United States. This is a wonderful opportunity to join in on some Hawaiian holiday fun! Christmas carols will be performed by different island choirs and there will be a rare opportunity to enjoy some real snow at the "snow zone"! Arts and crafts will be set up along the Banyan Tree and the Old Lahaina Courthouse will be hosting cookie decorating for all children. Entertainment will be going on throughout the night.

This 11th annual surfing competition determines who will be the winner of the Women's World Title Race for the Surfing Professionals World Championship Tour. First Light Film Festival
